Yeah, that title is super duper cheesy but, oh well. I am sick at home and cranky and gross and I feel like exploring avenues of web design I would not normally explore. So as part of my vacation of illness, I decided to create a Wix web page. I didn’t follow their template to the letter because I love blocks of color. But, I did maintain the basic layout and believe it or not I learned some things about front page content.
I am used to making lots of multi-page complicated sites e-commerce and otherwise. So to make a one page site is kind of neat. The Wix page generator laid out every basic piece you will need for a basic landing page. I see pre-generated landing pages a lot when working with Divi. I usually put stuff in and take stuff out and I don’t really know why I use themes at all because I just mess everything around. But, with this its pretty much just set up. The navigation on the top bar leads to various sections on the page and that’s that. You could make other pages but, I’m not in for all that today I’m just wanting to make a basic page.
So, that’s what I did. There is a guilty bar at the top of the page that exclaims the site as being created with Wix. I bet if you paid a bit of money that would go away though. It had a very nice parallax header and panels that I would not have though of putting in like a “client list” to showcase some of the companies you have worked with. I’ve seen it done I just would not have thought of using it. This is really great for SEO. People searching for the website of a business you have worked with will also pull your business up in web searches because you are linked and referring to the site they are searching for. Plus, its a really cute and useful panel.
Wix also hooks you up with a contact form and a map. I didn’t have to set up either of these with email settings or the Google maps API. They just worked and did their own thing. I don’t think this would be a good choice for a really customized data heavy site but, who knows. It was fun to mess with though. Not a bad experience at all.
